Bangladesh Diabetic Somity (BADAS) has gained international reputation for its diabetes health care model termed as Ibrahim Model. The efforts of DAB have recently made a quantum jump through the initiation of a large scale project for general health care delivery (The Health Care Development Project, HCDP) supported by the Govt of Bangladesh, Dutch Govt and a Consortium of local Banks.Bangladesh Institute of Health Sciences (BIHS) is the Apex Institute of HCDP which has its associated hospital named as BIHS General Hospital.BIHS is providing quality indoor & outdoor patient care and diagnostic services at a reasonable cost. To extend Diabetes & General Health care service to different areas inside & outside Dhaka, this organization presently successfully running Six Health Care Centers and two Hospitals. The Apex institute of HCDP, BIHS General Hospitals situated in Darus Salam, Mirpur-1 and the UHC Centers are situated in Savar, Gulshan , Mohammadpur, Bashabo, Jurain, Keranigonj & Tongi.The objective of BIHS is to create a Model Educational Institute encompassing all disciplines of biomedical and health sciences. The Institute has a 650-bed modern hospital, an Academy which runs 14 postgraduate courses in various disciplines of medicine, and it also conducts research activities which has been acknowledged through the WHO designation of BIRDEM as a Collaborating Centre for Research on Diabetes and its Complications.
