University Of Benin Teaching Hospital is a public tertiary hospital in Ugbowo, Benin City, Nigeria. It was established on May 12th, 1973 and taken over by the federal government in 1975. The hospital boasts a bed capacity of over 860 as at August 2017 and still increasing. It offers a robust range of multi-specialist services in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology, family medicine, internal medicine, child health, surgery, pathology, occupational therapy, orthopaedics and traumatology, radiotherapy and clinical oncology, physiotherapy, radiology, community health, occupational and environmental health, dentistry, dietetics and nutrition, ophthalmology, anaesthesiology, and pharmacovigilance. As a teaching hospital and major referral centre, the hospital is the hub of several training programs, including a fully accredited Residency training program, School of nursing, School of mid-wifery, School of post-basic nursing studies, School of post basic midwifery, School of health information management, Institute of health technology, and a Paramedic training program.
